Woman escapes from kidnapper, police say
A 38-year-old Medford man has been charged with kidnapping and raping a woman before she was able to escape from an unattached garage, according to Medford police.
James Calvin Patterson II of the 1200 block of Sunset Avenue was charged with rape, sodomy, kidnapping, contempt and assault on Saturday. He is being held in Jackson County Jail on $3,009,000 bail.
Police say a female victim, who knew the suspect, was locked in an unattached garage in west Medford.
The victim was later able to break out of the garage and call police. She was treated at a local hospital. Her injuries were not immediately available.
The case is under investigation and more details will be released at a later time, police say.
