Kids can learn about crystals at Crater Rock Museum
The Crater Rock Museum, 2002 Scenic Ave., Central Point, gives kids a chance to learn about geology at a monthly Kids Day.
On the second Saturday of each month, the Central Point museum offers free admission for kids and classes and activities designed for elementary students.
From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, the museum will showcase a crystals exhibit. There will be a hands-on demonstration using large crystal specimens, and attendees will be able to create their own crystal models. A new class starts each hour and, if the weather is good, a rock yard will be open for kids and adults to hunt for petrified wood, agates, jasper, obsidian and many other great rocks, all sold for 25 cents per pound..
Adults get in for $5, seniors for $3. For more information, contact the museum at 541-664-6081 or see www.craterrock.com.
