Bus schedules released as district prepares for return of students

Medford School District has posted bus routes operating during the teachers' strike on the website.

Schools have been closed since Thursday but will reopen Tuesday. Some schools will continue to meet on their own campuses for morning or afternoon sessions, while other schools will be bused to host locations.

Letters were mailed to parents Wednesday outlining where and when students would be meeting. This information was posted at https://www.medford.k12.or.us/News.asp?NewsID=1807 on Sunday.

First Student has arranged its bus routes to accommodate the modified school schedules. Bus routes to and from specific schools are available at https://schools.medford.k12.or.us/BusRoutes/.

Buses also will be waiting at schools that have been relocated to pick up students who typically walk to school and take them to the new location. Buses from Roosevelt Elementary to Jackson Elementary leave at 7 a.m., from Oak Grove Elementary to Howard Elementary at 7:20 a.m., from Jacksonville Elementary to Griffin Creek Elementary and from Jefferson Elementary to Hoover Elementary at 11:45 a.m., from Wilson Elementary to Lone Pine Elementary at 11:50 a.m., and from Abraham Lincoln Elementary to Kennedy Elementary at noon.

Routes also are available from Hedrick Middle School to North Medford High School and McLoughlin Middle School to South Medford High School.

More than 200 substitute teachers attended orientation Sunday at Central Medford High School and are settling into their assigned schools today, officials said. Teachers are picketing outside these schools today.

Contract negotiations between the district and teachers union will pick up Tuesday and also are scheduled for Wednesday.
