Inmate on the lam for three days captured by Medford police
An inmate who walked away from the Jackson County Community Justice Transition Center on work release was captured Monday by Medford police, authorities said.
Jacob Randall Granger, 23, of the 5500 block of Foots Creek Road, Gold Hill, walked away from the transition center Feb. 21 and remained on the lam for three days, a MADGE news release said.
Medford Area Drug and Gang Enforcement police learned of Granger's whereabouts from a tip on Monday and set up surveillance around his suspected location, the news release said.
When police located Granger and moved to arrest him, he attempted to run, but ran straight into waiting police, the news release said.
While searching his vehicle, police discovered about 17 grams of heroin, packaging materials and digital scales, the release said.
Granger is lodged in the Jackson County Jail without bail on charges of distribution of heroin, manufacturing heroin, possession of heroin, possession of marijuana and a probation violation for third-degree robbery, jail records show.
