SOAR WITH SOU this week as students show off the research and performance projects they've been working on, some all year long. The Southern Oregon Arts and Research celebration runs through Sunday on the campus, 1250 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland.
Today, vocalist and Department of Music faculty Chris Williams will perform "Sounding the Gallery" at 10:30 a.m. at the Schneider Museum of Art. At 1:30 p.m., see "21 Grams: Sampling in Hip-Hop Music" in the Hannon Library Digital Media Gallery. GREEN UP AND CLEAN UP week continues in Talent, where volunteers are needed to help weed and add plants to the Talent Rock Garden at 10 a.m. near the Talent library, 101 Home St. Participants are encouraged to bring shovels, trowels, rakes and gloves. Call 541-499-2264.
LEARN A LITTLE about the history of media in Southern Oregon from the master, Ron Kramer, former executive director of Jefferson Public Radio. BOOKS FOR KIGUTU is the topic when retired Eagle Point teacher Katherine Leppek and Marsha McHugh speak about their efforts to ship 120 pounds of new and gently used books to Kigutu, Burundi, in East Africa, each year.
