Canned Food Drive: The Ashland High School Booster Club will hold a community canned food drive from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, at Ashland high school in front of the gym on Morse Street. The club will gather nonperishable food items, and for each two items participants will receive a raffle ticket. Emergency Preparedness Event: Ashland Fire & Rescue will hold its second annual "Ashland is Ready!" emergency preparedness workshops from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Historic Ashland Armory, 208 N. Homeless Shelter Volunteer Training: The interfaith winter homeless shelters are in need of volunteers, and will hold an orientation and training event at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, at Calvin Hall of First Presbyterian Church of Ashland 1615 Clark Ave. The seminar will provide background information for those who want more information before volunteering, and it is not necessary for those who volunteered last year to attend. MARA Fundraiser: Mount Ashland Racing Association will hold a fundraiser dinner at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, at the Rogue River Room at the Southern Oregon University Stevenson Union, 1250 Siskiyou Blvd. Events will include and auction, dinner and dancing with live music by the Frankie Hernandez Band.
