Monday, Dec. 22

Line Dancing for Seniors: Line dancing is offered for adults 60 and older from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays at the Ashland Senior Center, 1699 Homes Ave. Advanced line dancing is from 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Thursdays at the center. Admission costs $2. Call 541-488-5342.

Blue Christmas Service: First Presbyterian Church of Ashland will offer a Blue Christmas service at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, at the church sanctuary, 1615 Clark Ave. The service is geared for those who find themselves sad and overwhelmed by the holiday season, and this gentle service will include music, candle lighting, scripture, poetry and prayer. Friday, Dec. 26

Ashland Rotary Centennial Ice Rink: Enjoy ice skating daily at the ice rink, located across from Ashland's Lithia Park at 95 Winburn Way. Skate rentals are $2.50 per pair. Saturday, Dec. 27

Jacksonville Victorian Christmas: Experience Christmas from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday in December at the historic Beekman House, 470 E. California St., Jacksonville. The theme will be a Victorian Christmas Boxing Day on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 27-28. "Boxing Day" may be a reference to the church alms boxes that collected donations for the poor. The tradition of giving money and other gifts to those in need and servants can be traced to the Middle Ages. Costumed docents will share the origins of many popular holiday traditions along with stories of the Beekman family's holiday festivities of the 1800s. Tours begin every 15 minutes and last one hour. Admission is $5, $3 for seniors ages 65 and older and students ages 6 through 12, and will be available at the door. Tour admission is $2 on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 27-28, for those who bring canned food items for ACCESS. For people who wish to pay the full tour admission, the difference will be donated to ACCESS. Entrance to a Christmas bazaar is free. Call 541-245-3650 for information.
