Rain: A Tribute to the Beatles
The first, longest-running and most successful Beatles tribute show in the world, this live note-for-note, multimedia celebration of The Fab Four and their iconic music will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, at the Craterian Theater, 23 S. Central Ave., Medford. Look for such favorites as "She Loves You," "Here Comes the Sun" and "Money Can't Buy You Love." Rogue Valley String Quartet
The quartet — Scott Cole, Arlene Tayloe, Kimberly Fitch and Michal Palzewicz — will play new string music written by Rogue Valley composers William Ashworth, I'lana Cotton, Ken Deveney, Walter Granger, Scott Miller and Russell Snyder at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Ashland First Congregational United Church of Christ, 717 Siskiyou Blvd. Tickets cost $10, $5 for students, and will be available at the door. Singer, songwriter and rhythm guitarist Liz Jones, singer and percussionist Anna Christensen and bassist and guitarist Felipe Archer will perform such tunes as Bonnie Raitt's "Come to Me," Stevie Wonder's "Master Blaster Jammin'" and Los Lonely Boys' "Heaven," along with songs by Bob Marley and lots of '50s and '60s rock, from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at 2Hawk Winery, 2335 N. Ethan Tucker Band
The Ethan Tucker Band will play a mix of eclectic, soulful electric and acoustic music — similar to Michael Franti, Ryan Montbleau and G. Love at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, at the Brickroom, 35 N. Main St., Ashland. Local funkmeister Frankie Hernandez, with bassist Jacob Ackerman and drummer Eric Maynard, will open the show with a set of soul and funk-infused rock and reggae. Tucker, a singer and songwriter born in Washington state, released a solo acoustic recording, "Lost Between," in 2010. His soon to be released new album will include tracks produced by Franti, including a favorite, "Cool Kids." Tickets cost $8 in advance and can be purchased at Brickroom, Music Coop at 268 E. William Stafford Celebration
Celebrate the writing of poet William Stafford — an American poet who was appointed in 1970 at the 20th Consultant in Poetry to the Library of Congress — at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, in the Meese Room of the Hannon Library on the Southern Oregon University campus, 1250 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland. Stafford also taught at Lewis and Clark College in Portland. Six poets from the Rogue Valley will read from Stafford's work, and visitors are welcome to read their own favorite poems by Stafford.
