Miles to coach NAIA all-star game
Medford native and Oregon Tech men’s head basketball coach Danny Miles was selected as one of the head coaches for the second annual NABC-NAIA All-Star Game, set for March 21 in Kansas City, Mo.
MidAmerica Nazarene’s Rocky Lamar is the other coach. He will coach the NAIA Division I All-Stars, while Miles will lead the All-Stars from Division II.
Miles, who has tallied 1,017 career victories at Oregon Tech, is the winningest NAIA coach. He was the second-fastest and just the fourth men’s head coach at any level of college basketball to reach 1,000 career wins.
Local cheer teams win awards
The Precious Cheer and TNT Cheer programs of Medford had first-place success at the Spirit Cheer Best of the Northwest in Tacoma, Wash., last weekend.
The junior level one team earned first place out of eight teams, the senior level 4.2 squad was first out of five, the senior hip hop team claimed first and the senior level three squad was third out of nine.
Team members are from Medford, Ashland, Central Point and Eagle Point.
