Donald James Stauffer

Donald James Stauffer passed away at his home August 20, 2015. He was 86 years old.  A native of Santa Barbara, Calif., he graduated from U.C. Berkeley with a Bachelor of Science degree in business. He was in the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.  He joined the United States National Guard in 1946 and left as an officer in 1950.

He was married to his first wife Jean Watson for 31 years. They lived in Oakland for 25 years and had two children together. They loved to play bridge, travel, golf, and play tennis.

He worked for Prudential Life in San Francisco, Calif.  for over 15 years, then left to start his own investment corporation, Fox'n Carskaden in Menlo Park, Calif.  In 1972 he retired from Fox'n to become the founding partner of a mobile home park in central California.  He moved from Santa Rosa with his wife and built their dream house. His wife Jean died in 1985.

He then married his second wife Fran Foreman Reynolds with whom she had two boys,  Dave and James. They moved to Carmel, Calif. He was active with his church and the H.O.A.

He was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2007. He and Fran chose to move to Mountain Meadows in Ashland, Ore. They loved to travel, play bridge, and go to the Shakespeare Festival. He was also involved in his homeowner's association and his church in Ashland.

Donald is survived by a son,  Mark Stauffer and a daughter, Kathryn Stauffer Bartley. He had eight grandchildren, Kevin Stauffer, Robert Stauffer, Theresa Thane,  John Thane, and  Austin, Jordan, Roman, and Genieva Bartley.

The family will have a celebration of his life at his home, Saturday, October 3, 2015, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers please make donations in his name to the Parkinson's Foundation in Medford, Ore.
