Spartans take down Totems
Southern Oregon kept the pressure on Seattle and used a pair of second-period goals to pull away en route to a 4-1 Western States Hockey League victory at The RRRink on Saturday.
The Spartans (22-14) outshot the Totems 40-16 but it was Seattle (8-30) that tallied first in the contest with an early first-period goal.
Southern Oregon netted an equalizer a few minutes later on a goal by Colin Elder, then broke the contest open with second-period goals by Paiute Morrison and Christopher Seto for a 3-1 advantage. Brody Surette capped the scoring with 44.6 seconds remaining in the third period.
Tage Rustgi stopped 15 shots in goal for the Spartans.
The teams square off again at 1:30 p.m. today at The RRRink.
