Jackson County assessor race will go to November run-off

The race for Jackson County Assessor is headed for a November run-off after none of the five candidates secured a 50-percent majority of votes in today's election.

The top two vote-getters will compete in the fall.

Election results Tuesday night showed Angela Stuhr with 26.06 percent of the vote, followed by David Arrasmith with 25.62 percent and Michael Wright with 21.13 percent. Ruth Staten trailed with 14.73 percent and David Anderson was last with 12.09 percent of votes counted.

All of the candidates except Anderson already work in the Jackson County Assessor's Office in various capacities.

Stuhr, Arrasmith and Michael Wright are deputy assessors, while Staten is a project/program director in the office. Anderson is a mechanic and the former assistant hangar manager for Erickson Aviation.

Former Jackson County Assessor Josh Gibson's resignation in late 2015 set off a scramble among the five candidates to be voted in as his replacement.
