Rogues prevail against Lodi, 5-3
LODI, Calif. — Medford Rogues reliever Malik Evans did his job well in a 5-3 victory over the Lodi Crushers in Great West League baseball at Tony Zupo Field Friday
Evans, who entered in the bottom of the ninth with the bases loaded and no outs, got a strikeout to begin his save opportunity. Then the right-hander from Northwest Nazarene induced an unorthodox double play when outfielder Derron Davis caught a fly ball and fired to catcher Jared Dunning, who applied the tag on a Crusher runner at home to end the game.
The Rogues got their first run on an RBI triple by Chad Bell in the second inning.
Davis’ RBI single in the fourth gave Medford a 3-1 lead.
The victory in the opener of the three-game series improved the Rogues record to 3-1 in the GWL.
The same two teams play today at 7:05 p.m.
MEDFORD MUSTANGS 9, GRANTS PASS NUGGETS 7: At Grants Pass, Grayson Wolff smacked a two-run double as the Medford Mustangs posted their fifth straight victory after opening the season 0-3.
