Rotary awards $37,500 in scholarships

The Ashland Rotary Foundation of the Rotary Club of Ashland has awarded 11 scholarships totaling $37,500 to Ashland High School and Southern Oregon University students.

There were eight scholarships awarded to Ashland High School students, including one four-year scholarship, one two-year scholarship and six one-year scholarships.

Three one-year scholarships were awarded to Southern Oregon University students. Each year of the scholarship award totals $2,500. 

The following students from Ashland High School were awarded scholarships:

• Zoe Patron received $2,500 for four years from the ARF Jim and Betty Matteson scholarship; and

• Brenden Josh-Bentley received $2500 for two years from the ARF Bob and Charlene Edwards scholarship.

The following received a one-year, $2,500 scholarship:

• Ellie Dicker from the ARF Bret Bernard scholarship; 

• Lars Filson from the ARF John and Gladys Billings scholarship;

• Emma Gelino from the ARF Earl and Maureece Liniger Family scholarship; 

• Devon Lancaster from the ARF Ralph and Claire Farr scholarship; 

• Ewan McCarthy from the ARF Dick and Jean Bernard scholarship; and 

• Dominic Meads – Gerald and Olive Churchill.

The following students from Southern Oregon University were awarded scholarships:

• Hayden Saparto from the ARF Bob and Molly Bennett scholarship;

• Trinidy Flinders from the ARF Jerry and Jeanne Taylor scholarship; and

• Aaron Williamson from the ARF Ralph and Mary Herbold scholarship. 

The Ashland Rotary Foundation scholarship fund provides scholarships annually to students at Ashland High School and Southern Oregon University. Donations to the Ashland Rotary Foundation scholarship fund are tax deductible. Donations are welcome from anyone wanting to contribute to the future of area students.
