Rogues split with Pickles
PORTLAND — D.J. Wilson bolstered his record to 5-0 on the mound for the Medford Rogues in the opener of a Great West League doubleheader, but the Rogues dropped Game 2 to the Portland Pickles at Walker Stadium.
The Rogues won the opener 5-2 before the Pickles evened the score with a 3-2 victory.
With the opener tied 2-all in the top of the sixth inning, the Rogues' Derron Davis drove in two runs with a double, stole third base and scored on Connor McNally’s single.
Wilson went all seven innings, allowing two earned runs on six hits with no walks and three strikeouts. He was touched for a two-run home run by Portland’s Andrew Garcia in the first inning but settled down thereafter to throw shutout ball.
In the nightcap, the Rogues went up 2-0 in the second inning but were shut down from there, mustering just two hits in the contest.
The Rogues’ Brock Pradere had an RBI single and Davis drove in a run on a fielder’s choice in the second inning.
Portland's Zander Clark drove in the tying and go-ahead runs on a two-run single in the sixth.
