Rogues run winning streak to 11

CHICO, Calif. — Braden Stutzman and Billy Fredrick rapped two-run singles in a five-run seventh inning as the Medford Rogues raised their winning streak to 11 games with a 6-2 Great West League baseball victory over Chico Friday.

The win extended the franchise-record streak in the first game of a three-game series. The teams meet again at 7 tonight.

First-place Medford (29-11) increased its lead to 6½ games over the Heat (23-18), which is in second place.

Rogues starting pitcher Reece Green (5-0) worked six innings and combined with relievers Tristan Duncan and Parker Kelly to limit Chico to two hits. One of the hits was Brock Bell's two-run single in the fifth, giving Chico a 2-0 lead.

Medford had seven hits, and four of them came in the seventh inning.

Cam Russ opened the frame with a single, Connor Lowrie walked and both moved into scoring position on a Johnny DeLaCruz groundout. Stutzman followed with his two-run single.

An error by Heat third baseman Grant Dragmire allowed Kelly to reach, and Brock Pradere walked to load the bases. Derron Davis scored Stutzman with a fielder's choice to put the Rogues in front, 3-2.

After Davis stole second, Fredrick lashed his hit for two more runs.

Medford added a run in the eighth when Kelly singled in Lowrie, who reached on an error.

Green allowed two hits and both runs, one earned. He struck out six and walked three. Duncan threw two innings with two walks and no strikeouts. Kelly pitched a perfect ninth.
