Roc Mitchell Miller
May 18, 1955 - May 24, 2017
Roc was a well-loved, loving man who enjoyed an active life, his family, friends, home, and work. Born in Newport Beach, California, he lived first in Orange County, and from 1964 in West Los Angeles with his father’s family until he graduated from University High School in 1973.
The family then moved to their lakeside ranch in Ashland, Oregon. There he promptly enrolled in (then) Southern Oregon College, made many new friends, enjoyed ranch life, volunteered with Talent Rural Fire Department, (now Jackson County Fire District Five), worked for Talent Irrigation District, and with his father. At age 23 he moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where he worked in the lighting industry for several years. He then returned to the Los Angeles area where he soon earned his license as an electrical contractor, his lifelong career. Until illnesses curtailed his work, he successfully ran his own business, Roc Miller Electric for many years.
He is survived by his father, Robert Miller; step-mother, Denise Miller; mother, Sally Miller; brother, Gregg Miller (Linda); half-sisters Minto Miller Thorsen (Jack), Samantha Miller Metheny (Steve), and Logan Elizabeth Miller, and many dear aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and faithful friends. He will be sorely missed.
A memorial and burial of his ashes will be held in Ashland this summer, date to be determined.
