Crews will continue a controlled burn a half mile north of Four Corners over the weekend beginning Saturday, March 10, Ashland Forest Resiliency Partners have announced. They expect the controlled burn could produce some smoke around recreation trails including Marty’s and Catwalk Trails plus upper Tolman Creek.

The west side of the watershed is a better place to recreate for those sensitive to smoke, they caution.

This week the Ashland Forest Resiliency Stewardship Project conducted controlled burns on over 80 acres. Some key places were cleared including a helicopter landing pile at Four Corners Parking Lot.

Crews led by the U.S. Forest Service are clearing excess fuel to reduce community risk. Controlled burns under safe conditions reduce the risk of severe summer wildfires and protect forests, water supply, economy and community.
