Four controlled burns planned
Ashland Forest Resiliency partners will conduct four controlled burns Tuesday, March 13.
Burns are scheduled at Ashland Mine Road (smoke will be visible from Interstate 5 and the west side of Ashland near the railroad overpass); Acid Castle Rocks (Hitt Road and the surrounding neighborhood off Strawberry Lane could smell or see smoke); Upper Tolman Creek Road (smoke could be visible around the Tolman Creek area); and on the east side of the Ashland watershed a half mile before the Eastview Trailhead off Forest Service Road 2080.
Controlled burns will be managed by crews from Lomakatsi Restoration Project. Controlled burns under safe conditions reduce the risk of severe summer wildfires and protect our forests, water supply, economy, and community.
