Peggie Greuling, 93, passed away peacefully March 11, 2018 in Atlanta, Georgia. Her daughter Sheri held her hand as she slipped away.
Many people in Ashland and Talent remember "Grandma Peggie" who taught music in schools in the 1970s, '80s, and '90s. After she retired, she taught violin to children as young as six years old using the Suzuki Method. Her violin groups Ramblers and Buckaroos performed locally.
Many Decembers Peggie could be seen on street corners next to a giant cauldron playing Christmas carols and collecting donations for the Salvation Army. Who could forget the sight of the golden retriever helping collect the money?
Peggie wrote songs, especially about America and her beloved Rogue River Valley. Her songs were performed at band concerts of the Ashland City Band.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Herb; three children; and 10 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Peggie will be laid to rest at the Georgia National Cemetery.
