James K. Scott
Jim passed away April 20, 2018 at his home. Gone is a complicated man with ideals, intelligence and a quick wit; his friendship will be missed by many.
James K. Scott was born in Scotland in 1945. At a young age he was enticed by the big city of London and moved there from Glasgow.
He served in the British Foreign Service in Caracas, Venezuela where he met Karen Pate from Eastern Oregon whom he married. Jim graduated from University of Essex and received his teaching credential from Southern Oregon State College. After teaching English at Crater High School for 25-years, he retired in 2002 and met Sandy Kuykendall whom he spent his life with.
Golf was Jim's game of choice and he could often be seen swimming across Emigrant Lake with his friend Allen. He enjoyed watching track and field, Giant's baseball, and cooking. Jim loved literature, poetry, and funny stories. He was always reading three books at a time and had a new joke up his sleeve. The apple of his eye was his daughter, Jennifer Pate Scott and when his grandson, Keenan was born, he had a new zest for life. Jim was generous to Sandy's grandchildren, helping them with their college expenses.
A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on May 5, 2018 at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ballet Folklorico Ritmo Alegre, P.O. Box 795 Talent, OR 97540.
