Lee Weisel

Lee Weisel passed away peacefully Thursday evening, May 3, 2018 at his home in Ashland, Oregon. Mr. Weisel was born in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Leo and Helen Wiesel.

Lee attended the school of law at Yale following his graduation from Grinnell College in Iowa. He then moved to Los Angeles, where his three children, Joshua, Jason, and Jessica, were all born. After working at UCLA Law School for one year, he practiced eminent domain law and then went on to practice entertainment and real estate law. His practice in entertainment law led Lee to become a personal manager to the rock group Iron Butterfly, musician Herbie Hancock, Black Oak Arkansas, and several other artists. After leaving the entertainment business, he became the co-founder of Bio Mass One, the first wood waste-burning power plant in the U.S. The management and development of Biomass One in White City, Ore. brought him and his wife, JoAnn, to Ashland, Ore., where they fell in love with the town. Lee was past co-president of Temple Emek Shalom and very active in Jewish affairs in the community. Lee was also very supportive of the arts in the community.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Temple Emek Shalom or the Southern Oregon Humane Society.
