Ashland Karate Academy students shine at tourney
Ashland Karate Academy students Daisy Barnard and Alexandra Acevedo combined to win five awards at the City of Destiny Classic, a nationally ranked tournament held in Tacoma, Wash., on Saturday.
Barnard was named grand champion in 12-and-under kata, and also won the traditional kata title and finished as the runner-up in traditional weapons.
Acevedo placed second in both traditional weapons and contemporary kata.
Rowing clinic slated for April
The Ashland Rowing Club will hold an introductory clinic at Emigrant Lake in April.
The club will host an introductory meeting 6:30 a.m.-8:30 a.m. on April 16, then take to the water April 19, 20 and 26.
The meeting will be at 175 Emigrant Lake Rd., in Ashland and the clinic costs $120 per person.

Starting this week, fans will be able to email questions for Ashland High head football coach Charlie Hall to firstname.lastname@example.org and one will be picked at random for Hall to answer during the Grizzly pregame show.
A link to the Grizzlies' live video stream can be found at ashlandfootballclub.com. The pregame show begins at 6:45 p.m. on game days. Ashland travels to face Summit on Friday.
