SOU men's soccer team gains another win by forfeit

The Southern Oregon University men's soccer team picked up a win by forfeit Tuesday, 12 days after its scheduled season-opener against Trinity Lutheran College (Wash.) was called off when Trinity Lutheran couldn't field enough eligible players.

Southern Oregon, which improves to 3-0, was scheduled to face Trinity Lutheran on Aug. 20 in Eugene, but the game was cancelled and the Raiders ended up tallying the program's first-ever victory six days later over Sierra Nevada College. Now, the forfeit win will go down as the first-year program's first-ever win.

The Raiders, who have won two games by a combined score of 13-2, next face William Jessup on Saturday and Pacific Union on Sunday.

Saturday's highly-anticipated matchup between top-ranked and defending national champion Southern Oregon and No. 4 Carroll has been voted the NAIA Football Game of the Week, according to the Play NAIA Facebook page.

The game will be played Saturday at noon Pacific in Helena, Mont.
