Sanderson, Carroll earn all-state honors
Ashland junior first baseman Nick Sanderson and junior outfielder Jesse Carroll were named to the Class 5A first-team all-state list after voting by classification coaches.
Sanderson led the Grizzlies in batting average (.481) and RBIs (35) and also had nine doubles and two home runs. He went 5-2 with a 2.33 ERA on the mound.
Carroll hit .451 with three homers, 10 doubles and two triples and was second on the team with 25 RBIs.
Junior pitcher Peyton Fuller earned second-team recognition and senior outfielder TarQuin Daley was an honorable mention for Ashland, which finished 19-9 overall.
Crater had three second-team selections: senior pitcher Neil Bastendorff, senior infielder Nick Bastendorff and junior utility Jake Ireland.
Eagle Point senior outfielder Ryan Lorenz was a second-team all-state pick.
Summit catcher Cal Waterman was the 5A player of the year, Churchill's Brock Townsend pitcher of the year and Summit's Alan Embree coach of the year.
