Pair of Grizzlies picked as MT All-Stars

Teams have been chosen for the 12th annual Mail Tribune All-Star Basketball Classic, and voting is open to fans who want to take part in choosing the starters.

The boys and girls contests are Friday, March 13, at Kids Unlimited in Medford, 821 N. Riverside Ave. The games showcase the top high school players in Southern Oregon, from Class 6A to 1A.

The girls game starts at 6 p.m., the boys at 7:30. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students, and kids under 10-and-under get in free.

Fans vote on the starters, and there is no limit to the number of votes that can be cast. The ballot can be found at mailtribune.com/sports.

Live video of the games will be streamed on tablerocksports.net.

Last year, South Medford’s Ula Chamberlin was the girls most valuable player, scoring 12 of her 22 points in the first quarter to lead the Siskiyous past the Rogues, 69-58.

In the boys game, Oscar Banuelos, of North Medford, established a record with 29 points to pace the Siskiyous to their ninth straight victory, 88-63.

Girls returning for this year’s game are South Medford’s Chamberlin and Bella Pedrojetti, Grants Pass’ Ahdra Klingler, Rogue River’s Jesse Langfield and Rogue Valley Adventist’s Savanah Zamora. St. Mary’s Emma Bennion returns, having played two years ago before missing last year’s game with an injury.

Back in the boys game are South Medford’s Sherman Hunter, Grants Pass’ Taylor Anderson and Ashland’s KJ Pippa.

The staffs of Southern Oregon University and Oregon Institute of Technology will coach the teams.

The Rogue girls are made up of Abby Christiansen, North Medford; Chamberlin, South Medford; Toni Coleman, South Medford; Grace Gaither, Grants Pass; Sydney Gray, Crater; Andrea Flores, Eagle Point; Jenelle Hurley, Hidden Valley; Mallory Meilicke, Cascade Christian; Bennion, St. Mary’s, and Zamora, Rogue Valley Adventist.

Playing on the Siskiyou girls team are Talia Baker, North Medford; Pedrojetti, South Medford; Kaili Chamberlin, South Medford; Klingler, Grants Pass; Jayd Sollinger, Ashland; Eliza Idiart, Crater; Hallee Jessee, Hidden Valley; Marissa Welch, North Valley; Maggie Carrillo, Phoenix, and Langfield, Rogue River.

The Rogue boys team is Jett Carpenter, North Medford; Hunter, South Medford; Randy Clark, Grants Pass; Jayden Vranes, Crater; Hayden Neyt, Eagle Point; Joe Blanton, Hidden Valley; Tanner Lauby, North Valley; Donminic Lewis, Cascade Christian; Devon Malcolm, Butte Falls/Crater Lake, and Jordan Royce, Prospect.

Players for the Siskiyou boys are Jaray Thomas, North Medford; Keegan Losinski, South Medford; Anderson, Grants Pass; Pippa, Ashland; Nate Horton, Crater; Ethan Hutsell, Phoenix; Tre Foster, St. Mary’s; Bryce Bruner, Illinois Valley; Aiden Norris, Rogue River, and Isaiah Christensen, Rogue Valley Adventist.
