PREP ROUNDUP: Grizzlies win Eagle Point Invite
EAGLE POINT — South Medford’s Gabe Provencio won medalist honors and Ashland captured the team competition in the eight-school boys Eagle Point Invitational Thursday.
The girls side was cancelled because of lightning on the course.
Provencio shot a low score of 83 to edge Mazama’s Nate Beck (84) by one stroke at the Eagle Point Golf Course
Gus Senn paced the winning Grizzlies with round of 88 and two other teammates — Johnathan Ferreira and Toby Barnes — broke the century mark.
Tate Broedser shot a team-low 95 to pace Crater (400) to second place in the event.
For third-place Eagle Point (405), Justin Fraughtin carded a personal best 96.

Ashland freshman pitcher Gabby Heiken carried a no-hitter into the fourth inning but the Grizzlies committed five errors and surrendered seven runs in the frame. Of Heiken’s 12 runs allowed, just two were earned. She led the offense with three hits, including her second home run of the year, and scored three runs.
Also for Ashland (1-8), Shelby Brown had two hits and two runs and Ella Hart went 1-1 with three walks and two runs.

HENLEY 6, ASHLAND 0: Ashland fell to 6-4 on the season with the nonconference shutout loss at U.S. Cellular Community Park.
Henley, which has blanked four opponents in its nine games, improved to 8-1.
