Hart homers, Grizzlies topple Mt. Shasta

MT. SHASTA, Calif. — Ella Hart slugged her third home run of the season and two Ashland pitchers limited Mt. Shasta to three hits in the Grizzlies’ 12-1 five-inning nonleague road win on Tuesday afternoon.

Hart’s two-run homer in the Grizzlies’ six-run second inning scored Gabby Heiken, who had tripled with one out, and made it 7-1.

Hart was 2-for-4, and Heiken scored two runs for Ashland (3-11).

Heiken started and pitched two innings, allowing one hit and striking out three. Ruby Adams pitched three innings, gave up two hits and fanned four.

ASHLAND 6, KLAMATH UNION 2: At Ashland, Klamath Union won No. 1 singles and doubles but Ashland captured all the other matches in the nonconference match.

The Grizzlies’ Lauren Croyle triumphed at No. 2 singles, beating Ruby Charlton, 6-0, 6-0, and at No. 2 doubles, Ashland’s Jessica Hitchcock and Sienna Scoggins downed Grace Anderson and Katie Hartwell, 6-0, 6-2.
