Ashland junior Senn ties for 11th at state

Ashland High junior Gus Senn improved six places from the first day of the Class 5A boys golf state tournament to second and tied for 11th place Tuesday at Trysting Tree Golf Club in Corvallis.

Senn shot a 4-over-par 76 on Tuesday, improving by five strokes over first-round 81 and finishing at 157.

He fired a 37 on the front, mixing in a birdie and double bogey, then on the second nine had back-to-back birdies on par 5s to come in at 39.

Grizzlies freshman Toby Barns tied for 42nd place with scores 92 and 88 for a 180 total.

In the Class 5A girls tournament at Quail Valley Golf Course in Banks, Ashland junior Meredith Granger improved six shots in the second round, shooting 104 and placing 25th with a 214 total.
