GIRLS SOCCER: Grizzlies open season in big fashion
KLAMATH FALLS — Kendra Caruso and Emmeline Clark both connected on two goals for the Ashland girls soccer team, which opened the season with a 6-0 victory over Klamath Union on Tuesday.
Caruso put the Grizzies (1-0) on the scoreboard with a goal in the third minute. In the 11th minute, Mary Wilson scored and, three minutes later, Clark put Ashland ahead 3-0, a lead it took into halftime. Both goals were assisted by Mya Holzshu, who had three on the afternoon and added a goal of her own in the 55th minute.
Caruso and Clark added another goal to their totals in the 65th and 79th minutes, respectively.
Grizzlies goalkeeper Nina Munson stopped the only shot she was challenged on as Ashland’s defense was air-tight throughout the contest.
