Riding Beyond to hold event Saturday
Riding Beyond of Ashland, which provides horse therapy for breast cancer survivors dealing with the aftermath of treatment, will offer a chance this weekend to spend some face-to-muzzle time with a pair of peaceful equines.
The fundraiser will have a spiritual focus, offering a meditative time with the horses and a focus on the healing process in a hopefully post-pandemic world.
Founder and director Trish Broersma said the theme for Saturday’s event, scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., is “about experiencing the harvest and a restoration.”
We invite people to witness an exploration of the power of the horse-human relationship,” Broersma said. “It’s not a physical experience as much as a spiritual experience.”
Broersma said much of the session will involve simply being in the presence of two of the facility’s horses and experiencing the therapeutic benefit of being with the equines. Each visitor will have access for some one-on-one time, as well as learning about the facility.
Broersma said the horses at Riding Beyond are used to interacting with humans.
“The horses will be our ambassadors as we experience what the harvest has to offer. We include creative projects, so that they take something home with them that is expressive of what they harvested in their experiences,” Broersma said.
Admission to Saturday’s session is $50. For more info, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 541-482-6210.
