Bear Creek earns award for Web site
Bear Creek Corp. earned a gold award for its new World Wide Web sitealong with two silver awards at the annual Catalog Age awards conference.
Silver awards went in the consumer food category to Harry and David'sCool Fruit 1996 catalog and to Jackson & Perkins for itsRoses 1997 catalog.
This is also the first year for the Web site category in the 12-year-oldcompetition.
Receiving the Catalog Age gold award for for Harry and David'sWeb site its first year is quite an honor, said Bill Williams, BearCreek president and chief executive.
Fortunately, Web shoppers agree, as sales on the Internet sitecontinue to exceed our expectations.
The site was favored because of its design and ease of use, said HelenGarber, project manager. Sheila Chambers was art director.
It's offering customers another way of shopping and it's a wayof getting new customers, Garber added.
We haven't promoted it heavily. We were listed as a best site byCatalog Life and we're on the search engines. We wanted to get everythingin place before we get busy.
