Growers Market moves back
The Rogue Valley Growers' and Crafters' Market will return to the Searscorner of Medford Center starting Thursday.
The change results from building activity on the Emporium side of thecenter, where the market has been conducted this year.
The Growers' and Crafters' Market is held from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursdaysat the Medford Center.
This location will probably be permanent, said Janet Bierbower, secretary of the Growers' and Crafters' board. This is where we'vebeen for several years. We appreciate the Emporium for letting us be thereduring construction and we appreciate Sears for inviting us back.
Bierbower said she expects about 50 vendors to offer goods withan emphasis on fresh produce at the morning market.
The Rogue Valley Growers' and Crafters' Association also conducts marketsin Ashland and Jacksonville. The association's new telephone number is 826-9868.
A separate enterprise, Rogue Valley Farmers Market, recently began conductingan event on Medford's Main Street from 4:30 to 8:30 Thursday evenings.
Three members of the Growers' and Crafters' Association board resignedduring a controversy over the creation of the new marketplace.
They've been replaced by Sara Hammond, Carla Hutchins and Manuel Lawrence, who serves as treasurer. They join Bierbower, Suzanne Fry and Georgia Anderson, who is now president of the association.
We feel realistic about the market and we're all pulling togethernow, Bierbower said.
