Laurel Communications owner shifts gears

Mark Dennett has sold his interest in Laurel Communications and has starteda new business to expand his speaking and consulting career.

Dennett specializes in customer service, motivational and marketing talks.

His new firm, the Dennett Consulting Group, will market his presentationsnationwide. He also offers marketing consulting and research, along withfacilitating meetings and training employees.

Dennett joined the advertising agency 13 years ago and became an ownereight years ago.

His new company's clients include the Southern Oregon Visitors Associationand the Avalon Group, a national developer of health care videos.

He has a local number -- 488-4907 -- and a toll-free number, (800) 554-0564.Steven Fogelman bought Brook Counseling Services from Chuck and ConnieBrook in September.

The staff of 12 offers outpatient chemical dependency treatment, withoffices in Medford and Ashland. It was founded in 1987.

The company's new name, Kolpia, means winds of change inGreek, says Fogelman, who is licensed as a mental health and addictionscounselor and has 23 years of experience.

Fogelman said he was attracted to the program because it is small enoughto emphasize a personal touch and offer individually tailored treatment.Call 779-5866.

Holiday Inn Express planned at S. Gateway

The owners of the South Medford Comfort Inn are seeking a second lotin the South Gateway Center for a Holiday Inn Express motel.

Sonmer Development, a North Dakota company, wants to buy the 1.4-acreparcel between the existing motel and the National Guard Armory.

The center is being developed by TRF Pacific Real Estate and the MedfordUrban Renewal Agency. The agency board approved the sale of the lot, for$435,000, on Monday.

Painting, sandblasting business opens

WHITE CITY -- TDF Services, a business specializing in sandblasting,painting and fabricating heavy equipment, has opened at 7800 Crater LakeHighway, just north of Antelope Road.

We do fleet painting and sandblasting, said Steve Farnsworth,who is working with owner Matthew Gwinn.

Gwinn had a similar business for seven years in Anchorage, Alaska, beforemoving to the Rogue Valley.

The TDF stands for Two Dogs Fabricating, Farnsworth explained.
