State's biggest private firms remain the same

The five largest private companies in Oregon did not change from last year, according to the Private 150 published in the October edition of Oregon Business.

The largest remains Jeld-Wen Inc., a diversified forest products company based in Klamath Falls.

At No. 2 is the North Pacific Group, Portland, the nation's largest wholesaler of forest products. No. — is the Hoffman Corp., a construction company based in Portland. The two were reversed from last year.

The top three companies reported more than $1 billion in sales.

Fourth is R.B. Pamplin Corp., a Portland forest products company, followed by Roseburg Forest Products.

Five Rogue Valley companies made the list this year: — Cascade Wood Products, White City, No. 71, with just under $100 million in sales. — — — Croman Corp., an Ashland forest products and aviation company, No. 98, just under $100 — million in sales. — — Naumes Inc., a Medford-based fruit grower and juice concentrate manufacturer, No. 113, — sales between $50 million and $100 million. — —

Others on the list include Timber Products Co., No. 12, based in Springfield, with a big mill in Medford; and C&K Markets, No. 29, based in Brookings, which operates several Rays Food Place stores in the Rogue Valley.

The list is compiled by the Arthur Anderson Co., based on companies that agree to participate.
