Nurse practitioner Patrice M. Frires is now assisting in the diabetic department at the Medford Clinic's Providence Plaza site.
She comes to the clinic from Ashland Community Hospital. She earned her master of nursing degree at Oregon Health Sciences University and her bachelor's degree, with honors, in nursing from Southern Oregon University.
She will help translate for Spanish-speaking patients.

Dr. Jerome Nitzberg, a family physician from Ashland, has been recognized for 30 years of membership and contributions to the American Academy of Family Physicians. The ceremony took place at the organization's 50th annual Scientific Assembly in Chicago.
The association, which represents more than 84,000 family physicians nationwide, was the first to require members earn 150 hours of approved continuing education every three years.
Medford Clinic will open an ear, nose and throat office in Yreka, Calif. with otolaryngology physicians Dr. Dan Wayman, Dr. Jim Cruickshank, Dr. Michael Kronenberger and Dr. David Chambers.
They will see patients starting Monday, Nov. 16.

ERA Prestige Homes announces the recent buyout of the company by Michael Masters.
Masters and his brother Mark founded the company in 1987 in Grants Pass.

Jerry Evans, general manager of the Jacksonville Inn, has been re-elected to the board of directors of the Oregon Lodging Association.
