Financial seminar aims at women
Space is still available for Women! It's Time, a financial planning seminar aimed at women aged 40 and older. A similar series last spring attracted standing-room only crowds.
Held Thursday evenings throughout October, the evening sessions offer information and advice about saving, investing and planning for retirement.
Statistics show that women are less likely to save for retirement than men, that they wait longer to start saving and that they're more likely to doubt their financial planning abilities.
The series is staffed by area financial professionals who will answer questions including how to get started, how to decide what to buy and how to handle legal affairs and estate planning.
Cost is $20 for the sessions, held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. starting Oct. 5 at the Skyline Plaza at Rogue Valley Manor, 1200 Mira Mar, Medford.
The seminar is sponsored jointly by the AARP of Oregon, Consumer Credit Counseling of Southern Oregon, the Jackson County branch of the Oregon State University Extension Service, Rogue Valley Manor, Southern Oregon University and other area organizations.
For information, call 1-800-922-8716 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Or call Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Southern Oregon at 779-2273.
