Young named Realtor of the Year
Gloria Young was recognized for her stellar performance in the real estate industry on Friday, receiving the Realtor of the Year award from the Rogue Valley Association of Realtors.
Held at the Rogue Valley Country Club, the awards ceremony included a surprise visit by Young's children and sister who traveled to Medford from Salem and Portland.
The Realtor of the Year award was presented to Young by last year's recipient, Bob Strosser.
The award is given each year to a member of the Rogue Valley Association of Realtors who best exemplifies the Realtor spirit, image and community involvement and peer interaction representing the industry.
Young, is the co-owner of Coldwell Banker Commercial Pro West Real Estate with her husband, owner/broker Bernard Young.
"There are so many really outstanding Realtors in this valley and so many that are so deserving and do so much," Young said of the award. "I was really touched. (The award) meant a lot to me."
Young received her first real estate license in Eugene in 1982. She became licensed with Pro West in 1983, relocating to the Rogue Valley and marrying Bernard Young in 1984.
Young now holds the following Realtor designations: graduate of the Realtor Institute (GRI), certified residential specialist (CRS) and certified residential broker (CRB).
Her community involvement includes a state directorship with the Oregon Association of Realtors; a directorship and Professional Standards Committee chair for Rogue Valley Association of Realtors; president, Southern Oregon Multiple Listing Service; director, United Way of Jackson County; advisory board member, Divorce Care of Jackson County; and volunteer, Stephen Ministry, First Church of the Nazarene.
"With technology today, it's changing the way we do business to a degree," Young said. "But this will always be a one-on-one people business."
