Local rental owners group reports 4.8% vacancy rate

TheSouthern Oregon Rental Owners Association reports a 4.8 percent vacancy rate January.

That translates to 147 vacancies among 3,050 units owned or managed by the group's membership. The vacancy rate was 3.8 percent in December and 4.7 in November.

"Although 4.8 seems to be a little high, I don't think it becomes a trend until you have an increase in vacancies for three months in a row," says SOROA president Carlyle F. Stout III.

The group's monthly meeting is at 7 p.m. Thursday at J.J. North's Grand Buffet, 1016 N. Riverside Ave., Medford.

Local attorneys John and Mindy Ferris will talk about eviction procedures and ways for landlords to avoid common mistakes and pitfalls.
