The Chamber of Medford/Jackson County received three awards at the annual National Association for Membership Development conference.

The Chamber placed first in its dues income category for highest net gain in members and highest net gain in member dollars. It was also in the top 10 for highest total in new member dollars and member retention.

The local association represents more than 1,350 member businesses. It was among three finalists for the NAMD award of excellence, the top honor in the chamber profession, recognizing excellence in financial performance, member programs, internal operations and organizational mission.

A total of 133 chambers participated in the national survey of membership statistics.

ASHLAND ' Off the Grid Waffles has opened at 119 A St.

The organic breakfast and lunch cafe is owned by Jason Gallagher with Tom Marks and Brooke Nator managing. The enterprise has a solar-assisted kitchen and uses organic ingredients.

Susanne Ashland has opened a massage therapy business at 832 E. Main St., Suite 5. She is next to chiropractors Matt Sheehan and Brian Duby as is massage therapist Wayne Grafton.

Ashland received her training at Rogue Community College and received her license in October of 2001. She can be reached at 301-1417.

6-9 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, Sept. 9-25 in Grants Pass. Topics include setting up your sales and accounts receivables, bank deposits, inventory, labor charges, invoicing, statements, purchasing, accounts payable, bank reconciliation, customized reports and payroll.
