Sellers can't leave cars indefinitely

Since you asked

What is the law regarding cars parked on a Medford street with For Sale signs on them? I counted seven on Springbrook Road next to the ballfield. These have been there for some time.

' Roger B., Medford

According to Medford police Lt. Mike Moran, it's legal to have a For Sale sign in a car window, but it's not OK to store a car indefinitely.

While the ordinance sets the limit at 24 hours, officers tag cars and attempt to contact owners when they see cobwebs collecting, said Moran. If the cars still aren't removed, police can have them towed, he said.

To report cars being stored on the street, contact the Abandoned Car Hotline at 774-2544, Ext. 2885.
