Agencies collect more than $167,000
Several Southern Oregon nonprofit agencies will receive more than &
36;167,000 in awards from The Oregon Community Foundation, officials announced.
The grants are part of more than &
36;4.6 million awarded recently to nearly 500 nonprofits in the state.
With an endowment of more than &
36;365 million, OCF administers charitable funds donated by individuals, families and businesses for support of nonprofit programs and student scholarships.
The latest round of grants went to organizations in 29 counties, including the following Jackson County groups:
Arts Council of Southern Oregon:
36;17,700 for a project to increase membership.
Asante Health System:
36;10,000 to implement a mentoring program for certified nursing assistants.
AuCoin Institute, Southern Oregon University:
36;20,000 to promote involvement in a fuels management demonstration project on public lands.
CASA of Jackson County:
36;45,000 to secure a permanent office, improve program operations and expand advocacy services for children.
Children's Dental Clinic of Jackson County:
36;5,000 to provide free dental care for school-age children of low-income families who have no dental coverage.
36;30,250 to support board development and improvement of information management.
Jefferson Public Radio Foundation:
36;3,000 to support broadcasting of classical music and news in Douglas County.
Oregon Shakespeare Festival:
36;8,500 for the coming theater season.
Southern Oregon University Foundation:
36;10,000 for Academia Latina, which offers Hispanic youth a range of classes and recreational activities during a week-long residential program.
Trinity Respite Center:
36;15,000 to increase adult care for clients in Jackson County.
Salvation Army, Science Works Hands-On Museum, United Way of Jackson County:
36;1,000 each for activities that support their missions.
