Fire reports

Grass fire

' first block of North Columbus Avenue, Medford. Medford firefighters went to a reported structure fire and found a grass fire that had spread to a stack of plywood near a building before it was extinguished with a garden hose. Investigators were looking into the fire, which could have been sparked by fireworks, fire officials said.

Reckless burning

' Avenue E and Wilson Way, White City. Jackson County Fire District No. — investigators linked two 13-year-old boys to a grass fire that burned between two and three acres Tuesday evening. The boys had engaged in inappropriate fire play with a lighter, said Don Hickman, a deputy district fire marshal. Fire officials sent a report to Jackson County sheriff's department. Deputies will cite the boys and send them to a fire education program for children.
