Oregon State Police are investigating an accident in which an Ashland man was struck and seriously injured while trying to cross Highway 99 about 200 feet south of its intersection with Valley View Road. The accident at about 6:10 p.m. Tuesday closed the highway's southbound lanes for nearly an hour, police said. Michael Deny, 49, of Ashland, was taken to Providence Medford Medical Center for surgery to treat head and other injuries after he was hit by a 1991 Honda driven by Kimberly Hopper, 27, of Ashland, police said.
