Road work is set to begin in 5-9 years

Since you asked

I've been hearing about the Springbrook Road realignment for the past 10 years, because it jogs when it crosses Delta Waters Road, and is a bad intersection. I understand the city owns the required property, but nothing is happening. What gives?

' R. Cecilian, Medford

Your friends at the Medford Public Works Department are all over this one.

According to Public Works Director Cory Crebbin, it was going to be realigned in the mid- to late-1990s, but then the folks on Lone Pine Road asked that their street improvement project take priority, so Springbrook got bumped.

It's still on the list, though.

— In fact, it's on the medium-range list of the city's Transportation System Plan, meaning it's scheduled to be done between 2009 and 2013.

The city owns and rents out two houses on the corner of Springbrook and Delta Waters. The homes will be removed when the time comes, he said.

The realignment project, along with the widening of Springbrook to three lanes from Cedar Links Drive to Delta Waters Avenue, will cost about &

36;1.8 million.

But for now, we must continue to jog.
