Weapons arrest '
A man living in a downtown motel was arrested after a bullet fired from his Ruger .45-caliber handgun went through the floor of his room and narrowly missed striking another motel guest, police said.
Frank Martin Phillips, 55, was lodged in the Jackson County Jail early Wednesday on charges of carrying a concealed weapon and reckless endangerment, both misdemeanors.
Medford police Lt. Mike Moran said Phillips, a second-floor resident of a motel in the 500 block of North Riverside Avenue, told officers he did not realize the gun was loaded. Police went to the motel after a single bullet blew through the floor of Phillips' room and into a ground-floor room occupied by another man.
