Roy Gene Bennett, 42, of the 2600 block of Connell Avenue, Medford. A Medford police officer Tuesday arrested Bennett on charges of unlawful use of a vehicle and failure to appear in court. He was lodged in jail and later released because of overcrowding.

Body discovered '
A passerby on Tuesday found the body of a woman lying along the Bear Creek Greenway near Ashland,
officials said. The woman, whose age was not known, apparently committed suicide, Jackson County Sheriff Mike Winters said. Deputies were called to a section of the Greenway near Eagle Mill Road at about 3:30 p.m., but Winters said it was not known how long the body had been there.
Jail releases '
A total of 140 inmates were released last week from the Jackson County Jail to meet its new court-ordered cap of 230 inmates. Of those, 59 were released before their scheduled court appearances, 24 were granted an early release from a sentence and 57 were released for miscellaneous reasons.
