Eight city employees were honored by the Medford City Council during its meeting Thursday for serving in the armed forces. Each was called to active duty since Sept. 11, 2001, and served several months or more.

This is the first City Council meeting after they've all returned, said Doug Detling, human resources director, after the meeting.

In other business, the council:

36;679.32 to Pacific Asset Capital Inc.for system development charge credits for building sidewalks along Columbus Avenue near Prune Street in front of a residential development.

Voted unanimously to amend the city's land development code to create a new overlay zone category: Limited Industrial. The Planning Commission and planning staff recommended the change because there was not an appropriate category for properties that have been annexed into the city which still have county zoning.
