Medford CPA Gerald W. Burns

has received the 2004 Distinguished Service Award from the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy.

Burns served on NASBA's board of directors for nine years. His service included terms as Pacific regional director, director-at-large, secretary and treasurer. In addition, he has served on numerous industry committees and boards and served on the task force that amended Statement of Quality Control Standards No. 5.

Adroit Construction Chief Executive Officer Bob Mayers

has been named to the board of directors of People's Bank.

— Mayers has been a partner at Adroit Construction for 23 years and has worked in the construction industry for 37 years. His firm specializes in commercial construction of schools, hospitals, public works, industrial sites and banks.

Mayers moved to the Rogue Valley in 1979 and connected with his current Adroit partner Steve Lawrence

. Mayers graduated from Bradley University with a construction engineering management degree.

He has been recognized by the Rotary Club as Outstanding Business Person of the Year and has served on numerous local nonprofit boards.

Melissa Komure

has been promoted to director of recreation at Rogue Valley Manor.

Komure earned a bachelor's degree in health promotion and fitness management. She has been assistant director of recreation and is certified through the American Institute of Fitness Educators in older adult fitness.

Matthew LeMay

has been promoted to director of nursing at Rogue Valley Manor.

LeMay is a registered nurse and has served as the manor's health center charge nurse for the past year.

Medford native Sheri Parker

has been named marketing director at Pioneer Village in Jacksonville.

Parker has more than five years of experience marketing senior communities and more than 20 years of experience in customer-service related fields. She is also oversees the marketing activities for seven Farmington Center communities in the southern Willamette Valley and on the Oregon Coast. Pioneer Village is one of 14 assisted-living communities owned and managed by Farmington Centers in Oregon, Washington and Idaho.

Umpqua Bank has hired Virginia Lewis

as a real estate loan officer at the Umpqua Bank Mortgage Lending Center, 2400 Poplar Drive, Medford.

Lewis, formerly a loan officer with Premier West Bank, has 23 years of mortgage-lending experience.

Ashland healthcare software developer Plexis has announced three promotions.

Terri Coppersmith

is now vice president of accounting and finance, responsible for developing and refining Plexis' accounts receivable and invoicing.

Before joining Plexis, she was vice president of Western Energy Institute in Portland, where she began in 1992. She is a member of the state board of Certified Public Accountants of Louisiana and holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of New Orleans, and graduated from the Institute for Organization Management at the University of Arizona.

Former technical support manager Susan Drobkiewicz

is now production manager for the company's flagship software product, Plexis Claims Manager.

She is responsible for engineering production and scheduling. Drobkiewicz worked as an engineer for American and United airlines for 14 years. She graduated from Texas A&M with a bachelor's degree in information systems management.

Janet LaBonte

has assumed the role of technical support manager.

She has served in both technical and leadership roles in new and custom software development. Prior to joining Plexis, LaBonte was a senior product manager for Intuit and responsible for overall product strategy. She has worked as a software project manager, designer, and for several years operated a consulting service for small businesses.

Garrett Zoller

has joined Reed & Hamlin Real Estate, a Medford commercial and residential real estate firm.

Zoller grew up in the Rogue Valley, graduating from North Medford High School in 1987 and Southern Oregon University in 1993.

He has owned House of Wax and Rhino Linings, a purveyor of auto detailing, spray-in pickup-bed linings and accessories, for the past 12 years.
