Restaurant inspections

Jackson County health inspectors evaluated 60 restaurants in November. A portion of those scores appears weekly in the Mail Tribune.

Establishments must score 70 or higher to pass. Inspectors subtract points from a perfect score of 100 for critical violations.

Restaurants that received passing scores are:

Senor Sam's Mexican Grill, Ashland ' 84;

Sportsman Tavern, Gold Hill ' 96;

Subway, SOU Stevenson Union, Ashland ' 95;

Taco Bell, East Jackson Street, Medford ' 89;

Tin Tin Buffet, Medford ' 71;

Totem Pole Drive Up, Butte Falls ' 84;

Wasabi Japanese Restaurant, Medford ' 95;

Yellow Submarine Sandwich Shop, Medford ' 98;

Yuan-Yuan Restaurant, Ashland ' 88;

Zen Cafe, Medford ' 93.

Critical violations include: foods held at improper temperatures, improperly cooled or reheated, not properly protected from contamination, from unapproved origins, unsafe, adulterated, or not honestly presented, not date-marked or discarded upon expiration; raw animal foods improperly cooked; presence of rodents or insects; inadequate personal hygiene; failure to clean and sanitize food equipment; lack of an approved water system; toxic chemicals or cleansers not properly stored, used or labeled.
